Groove Tubes

This tube is closest in specification to a 12AX7 and can be exchanged with a slight drop in gain. Most companies changed over to the 12AX7 as it became more common. This tube can be tried in later Marshall amplifiers in the first gain position, where the owner of these amps would like to drop the background noise and lower the gain level to plexi or early 70's vintage gain levels with its returned wider frequency response.

Highest power pentode for use in Marshall, Hiwatt, Ampeg SVT, the GT amps and a few other higher powered amps. Also popular for HiFi amps. Excellent response, a little harder sounding than 6550-C. Price is for a matched pair.

Slovakian made with high power and very agressive dynamic tone...punchier sounding but still a sweet tone. New GT design with more power and heavy duty components. High power type with more highs and lows than other 6L6 types.

Chinese made copy of the old USA 6V6 we loved in our old Deluxe Reverbs. Round, warm, fat tone with lower power put great for a soft blues tone or great fat classic rock sound too. Price is for a matched quad.

This rare tube used in early Ampeg amps ad been off the market for years until our favorite European company, decided to help out and make one for us. A good tube in all areas, and in fact the only option if you've got an old ampeg VT22 or V4.

This obscure pentode tube used in some early Gibson amps had had been off the market until our favorite Russian factory decided to decided to supply it again. They are made in very low quantities, which is why the relatively high price, but they are a close copy of the origional tube and sound real good.

This tube is based upon a tube which is considered something of an icon to EL34 users in both the audio world and guitar amp world. There were a number of variants of the original tube and GT chose the classic XF2 dual getter version to reproduce. Great in Ampeg SVT and HiFi amps. Used by many manufactures such as Matchless, McIntosh and Cary Audio. Has a 15% higher output. Expect a puncky tight tone with excellent bass response... great for country tight licks and big round jazz tones. Popular with heavy metal and speed players looking for a very clean output section where there majority of their distortion comes from their preamp section of their amp, or via pedals or effects.
